it is the celebration of National Day, or the 70th anniversary of the day when King Abdul Aziz Ibn Abdul Rahman Al Saud, founder of the Kingdom and author of its greatness, unified the country.
For the celebration of Saudi National Day, there is a history replete with significant lessons that can serve as a basis for educating future generations about the true meaning of faith, steadfastness, resolution, determination, struggle and jihad so that the message can reach its full completion.
An examination of history, and the path of unification in its various stages, reveals the extent of the faith of the great founder, his success on every level, and the extent to which his blessed children have adhered to his teachings.
King Abdul Aziz Ibn Abdul Rahman Al Saud was constantly searching at the beginning of his struggle for a suitable opportunity to reclaim his land and unite it. He spoke often to his father Imam Abdul Rahman Ibn Faisal about his dream and found in the Imam someone who shared this dream and responded to his desire to reclaim the nation and unite it.
The hero of unification pursued the process of uniting his country until he won the support of the tribes that he had desired and the people rallied around him so that security and stability spread throughout the land.
After completing this phase of uniting the country, King Abdul Aziz turned his attention to fulfilling his Arab and Islamic obligations, focusing on the principles of fighting oppression, leading the oppressed to victory, helping the needy and advancing the cause of Islam. He then began to lay the foundations of the modern Saudi state and worked to spread education and provide services to his citizens.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Places King Fahd Ibn Abdul Aziz, however, has gone to great lengths to summarise the meaning of National Day. He said: The celebration of Saudi National Day, which marks the passing of one hundred years since the foundation of the kingdom, embodies clearly the long-standing and profound historical unity between the leadership and the people, which has been achieved through the accomplishments of King Abdul Aziz, may the blessings of God be upon him.
