View Full Version : I Did It !!!! APPENDECECTOMY
APPENDECECTOMY
My hands and only
Without any body else
:
:
:
No ,
:
:
:
There was only my specialist
A gentleman doctor
But this time
He was the assistant
:122:
Instead of me
Who (me) was assisting him in every time
:MM:
With only closure of the abdominal wall
I was not satisfied actually with that
And in every time I was asking to do appendecectomy alone
:
:
:
Until I Did It
Yes I Did It
And I am so happy for that
:hp:
A great feeling to see your patient coming from the ER
And notice how much he was in pain
And after that you see the big difference postoperatively
And how much he is improving now
:LL:
And the first one I looked for this morning is my patient
No ,
:
:
:
My real patient
During the round one of my residents said to my consultant
This is the victim of Doctora MAJ
Then I told him
:o:
All patients post operatively getting pain
But my patient
الحمد لله
Does not have any pain
And improved soooo much
So , How it was my victim ????
:
:
:
Of course he was joking
:
:
:
The only trouble i`m within it now is that
I took a long time for this operation
Instead of half an hour
I took about one and half an hour
:122:
There was a lot of other operations should be done on the same room
I.E. I disturbed their OR schedual
:K:
So that the OR staff wanted to punish me for that
Even the anesthetist
He wants to bring a big CAKE for him
And others want a meal full with meat
My specialist too ,
Wants a gift for his waiting and assisting me for this long time
:aa:
I told him :
For you my doctor ,
I`ll write the operative form on the computer
And the others , insisting on their request whenever they are seeing me
I told them . INSHALLAH , i`ll do that
Not now ,
At the end of my rotation
To allow me to do it again
:122:
But I do not think they will accept that
They will see me again in the OR
And they will ask me more and more
:
:
:
Anyway
This was my story on my on call duty yesterday
I hope my talk is not so long
:LL:
Good Night

Mabrooook dear sister Doctorah MAJ
really Alf Mabroook from my little heart
Allah bring all the success to you throughout your life
Well
you've written it in very cute history
Oopss !! I mean story
:t:
Sorry this is the 4th year syndrome
Haaaaah
I've read this topic yesterday
But I couldn't have the chance to reply
Coz we wrote our theory medicine final exam today
It was pharma.. Not medicie
even they say that management will be a 6th year course
But lots of Q were all about ttt
:waa:
Yallah it has GONE now
No need to remember it
Since yeaterday
And I'm tring to put myself in your position
Really it is a great feeling
All what you've mentioned.. Really veery great
Tell you my little story
:15:
UmmmmMm
during the last summer
I've got a summer training in Makkah center
مركز مكة الطبي حاليا بخش
I had a chance there to meet Dr Sameer Suftah
Really a veeeery keen doctor
the same day
there was a perforated peptic ulcer case
but they were in a doubt that it might be appedecitis
they prepared the pt for an open sugery
I asked Dr Sameer if I can join him
and he ACCEPTED that
WOOOOOOW
it was a veeeeery haapy tmie for me
since it is my first time to be in the OR
:wooow:
they first checked out the appendix
it was healthy
then they pointed the perforated ulcer
it was in the first part of the duodemun
I was sooo surprized
Really what a live organs are differ from those in the dissection hall
Dr Sameer was very cooooool
he tought me how be prepared for a surgery
wearing special dress, washing hands, and the way to do so
He also warrend me
THAT TO TOUCH ANY THING
:waa:
I was only watching
He covered the preforated part with the mesentery
then he ligated all
after he has finished
it was the time to suture
I asked the dr to do it
He told me
I asked you what is pathophysiology of peptic ulcer
and you didnt know
How come that you want to suture
I told him that I've joined a suturing workshop and I know little
after maaany requests.. He permitted me to do
Tell you a secrete
I dont know any technique in suturing exept ONE
that is
the horizontal mattress technique
:122:
I used some absorbable synthetic sutures and tied the wound
I took for about 20 minutes
veeeeery long time
But I was not eating hahahahahaha
He helped me and was happy to see that
I came back home
I was soooo happy
as if I did the surgery Haaaaaahh
Really it was a great feeling
I loved sugery since that time
Oooops
I forgot myself
Sorry veeeeeery sorry doctorah for this GarGarah
But any how.. I'm INDIAN
:o:
Once again
الف مبروووك دكتورة ماج
والله فرحتللك كتييييير
ربي يسعدك ويحفظك ويوفقك
وآسف عالاطالة
ودمتي دااااااااايما بخير
تحياتي
Whisper
الله يبارك فيك
The next one i`m thinking about it , is
:?:
To do a hernial repair
:LL:
A lone
With my specialist
Who ( my specialist ) will be the assistant again
:
:
:
Ok
:
:
:
Let me dream again
Until I get it
Exactly like the previous one
Just pray for me
The Big Hearted Member
Dr.Ledo
Dr Sameer was very cooooool
he tought me how be prepared for a surgery
wearing special dress, washing hands, and the way to do so
He also warrend me
THAT TO TOUCH ANY THING
Good exposure
That exactly the first thing I did it for the first OR to me
It was about 4 years back
These are precautions to protect your self before the patient
And very important to find some one teaching you how to do it
Tell you a secrete
I dont know any technique in suturing exept ONE
that is
the horizontal mattress technique
Mashallah
:o:
So you escaped the simple knots
And went to more complicated one
Really it was a great feeling
I loved sugery since that time
So ,
Will see you a big surgeon at one day INSHALLAH
Good Luck
:sun:
Thank You Very Much For Your Congratulation
Study hard in your exam
A little is remaining

By the way
I've some Qs about appendicectomy
They usually do it either by open surgery
or they go for laproscopy
* which one is more easy ?? and safe ??
* are they specific for some pt rather than others ??
Could you pleez explain it to me ??
Thanx veery much
SaLaM
Welcome Back Dr.Waleed
Sorry To Be Late In My Replies
:waa:
An Exhausting On Calls
الله المستعان
Any way
About your questions
You know !!
They were interesting to me also to know more about them
And to refresh my knowledge again by reading
Because usually we are not discussing appendix in our sessions >>
Regarding round or meeting wise
Considering it very light surgery
But you see !!
You raised a question here !!
Which is very interesting to know more about it
I`ll try to answer your questions >>
From my little experience in the surgical field
They usually do it either by open surgery
or they go for laproscopy
Well ,
Actually usually they are doing it by open
Although the studies showed that >>
There is no significant differences have been found >>
Between lap & open one exist >>
Regards to complications , length of hospital stay
Or regard the time recovery
Only I saw one of my doctors doing it
He is a staff university
:LL:
He took a course specific for training on how to practice a lap
Otherwise i`ve never seen any body else
which one is more easy ?? and safe ??
I think the lap one is more safe & easy >>
Because the open appendecectomy >>
Sometimes can injure the bowel or even a hollow organ near to
In term of using a sharp instruments , knife & a diathermy >>
And also the lap one can minimize the incidence of wound infection
Which can we see it commonly if it is done by open
But of course the operative time costs are higher in >>
Laparoscopic Appendectomies
are they specific for some pt rather than others ??
No ,
The indication for lap is the same as for open appendectomy
Although it offers some advantage e.g.
Evaluation of the whole abdomen & pelvis by the lap >>
Smaller incision , minimize the wound infection & also >>
Better exposure in obese patients
I hope I helped you answering the questions
Best Of Luck

Thank You ...
i was enjoying reading your story Dr
It's nice when the doctors really trust you
If I were you , I will bring the breakfast everyday, the lunch and dunkin donuts for all the OR doctors just to make me do surgeries and know more information
I'm a student in the 6th year , I hope I can do like you in the future (intership) , It's really exciting
an appendectomy , a WoW Dr :)
Mashallah :)
My largest event was only a 2nd assisstant who stayed watching and then allowed to do suturing of the surgical wound :(
I don't know , maybe it's wrong to be over excited because we might harm patients, but really the rule of learning step by step is sometimes boring
Anyway , I am so happy for You Dr and sorry for the long post
