Salam everyone..
I don't know from where exactly should I start concerning the surgical specialities courses of the 5th year.
First.. we've got some basic knowledge and an over all idea of different specialities. BUT what happened in the last few weeks destroied us completely.. here is some of we got in this term.
We start cool with the E.N.T course, with good learning about Hx and Ex of otorhinolaryngiology.. we took 12 lectures in a duration of 3 week.
THEN, Orthopedics course.. Did I say orthopedics???? We learned it theoritacally, and for me I Couldn't touch a single patient except in or our midterm exam which was clinical Ex. ,, and forget about the theoritical part which we've been takin' for 3 weeks.
Ophthalmology, with only one setion in the clinic and the rest were theory and slides?? two weeks.
Surgery (part 2) including 14 lectures in surgical subspecialities and trauma... In ONE week?? and after that Urology for 2 weeks. and for sure their mid and final exams are sticked to each other.
Now what happened?? Urology mid term in the just one day after we finish the course "When can you read trauma? surgical subspecialities? Urology course??"
at that day only we knew about the schedual..
Sunday: ophthalmolgy.
Monday: Uro & surgery 2.
Tuesday: E.N.T.
Wed.: ORTHOPEDICS..
O.K.. for each exam
Opthalmology: We examined S.A slides in the midterm and we suppose to examin only MCQs in the final.. BUT only 16 hours befor the final exam we knew that we will get 15 slides with one answer for each.. "Not a big deal the course was interresting and benificial and we didn't get that problem in study".
the day after, we examined Urology MCQs and OSCE.. I'll skip this part and let the 5th year students talk about it.
E.N.T exam:
O.K for my group, we got out of the OSCE at 2:30 P.M and most of us didn't get enough sleep the night before. E.N.T exam starts 8:30 A.M. I just wanna know how can we race the time and study?? for Assay questions and OSCE slide exams.
N.B.: the last time we learned and revised informations about E.N.T was at the beginning of the year i.e. 2 and a half months ago.
Orthopedics Final??
LAst day, S.A + MCQs + Slides OSCE, in 14 lectures + 14 Students Presentations?? and the mid was Clinical Ex.. ??? NO COMMENTS..

The real main defficulties were:
1- shortinning of time allowed.
2- Theoritical part destroied the Clinical one.
3- The arrangment of the schadual, time to present it to the students, delaied knowledge about the types of examinations required in each subject, and Deep knowledge reqired questions "espicialy MCQs".
The last point was the main problem to most of the students.
Realy, all what we need is good coordination and arrangment to learn well and to be good students.. the informations and knowledge we got from those courses were so important But how would be any satisfaction we won't be able to learn them and understand them well..

This is a msg I'de like to send to whom it may concern.. to build up good students and future doctors.. and I need to know other's openion and suggestions in this topic.
