For resuming your postgraduate studies of training or working in UK you need to register in the General Medical Council (GMC) by passing the PLAB EXAM
WHAT IS PLAB
The Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) Test. it is for international medical graduates. For registration in the GMC for work or study. (For a period of limited registration, which you can do only if you are in supervised employment)
The PLAB investigate your competence of the necessary skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the UK. The PLAB test is designed to test your ability to work safely in a first appointment as a senior house officer in a UK hospital in the National Health Service (NHS).
The test is in two parts:
Part 1 is a single paper marked by computer to a standard set
Part 2 is a 14-station objective structure clinical examination (OSCE) which tests your clinical and communication skills.
NOTE;
You cannot enter Part 2 until you have passed Part 1.
You must take Part 2 within three years of passing Part 1.
Before taking the test you must have
- A primary medical qualification (PMQ) (as the Bachelor Degree in Medicine)
- Obtained the relevant scores in the IELTS test: a minimum of 7 as an overall score and in the speaking section, and 6 in each of the other sections – listening, academic reading, and academic writing.
- At least 12 months’ postgraduate clinical experience in a teaching hospital, or another hospital approved by the medical registration authorities in the appropriate country.

Where test conduct
Part 1 is held at centers in the United Kingdom and in certain other countries. Part 2 can only be taken in the UK. The nearest center to Saudi Arabia is Cairo in Egypt and Dubai in UAE

Exam format
The examination paper will contain 200 questions in the extended matching and SBA (single best answer) format. divided into a number of themes around; Diagnosis, investigate and management the patients; and other medical and practice issue, such as ethical and legal responsibilities of doctor. Doctor communication skills.
The content to be tested is, for the most part, defined in terms of patient presentations. Where appropriate, the presentation may be either acute or chronic. Questions in Part 1 will begin with a title which specifies both the skill and the content, for example, The management of varicose veins.
You will be expected to know about conditions that are common or important in the United Kingdom for all of the systems outlined below. Examples of the cases that may be asked about are given under each heading and may appear under more than one heading.
