The Medical Council Of Canada is responsible for promoting a uniform standard of qualification to practice medicine for all physicians across Canada.
The qualification, known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC), remains acceptable to provincial medical regulatory authorities.
This ensures portability across the nation, while continuing to guarantee that each province and territory maintains the right to grant the license to practice medicine.
Candidates must be successful at both MCC Qualifying Examinations, Part l and Part ll, for their name to be recorded in the Canadian Medical Registry which to date contains over 96,000 Licentiates.
