The Doctor that you are being
The role we play is so significant in our patients' experience of life and health, and yet many times we miss some of the important aspects that lend themselves to healing.
Take a look and see which type of doctor personality you possess. Is it authoritative, passive or educational? Do you listen without talking, talk without listening, or is your doctor personality something different? Maybe you are a combination of these, or only one. It really makes no difference which one you are, as long as you know who you are and the WHO is coming through you.
When I refer to BEING the doctor, I am referring to that something within you, coming through you as you work with your patients. The connection you have with your patients is the most sacred and powerful source for healing to take place.
Why is it that some doctors get great results and others get so-so results, whether they use the same technique or not? We understand that the technique has much less power in the healing work than the person who is performing it.
This being the case, the importance should be put on the person, and especially the Being. As human beings, we have our HUMAN-the body, the physical aspects of what you are-and we have the BEING-the spirit, life force, etc. of who you are. For us to be alive, it is our Being working through the human and expressing itself, thus making you.
When we get a clear connection of WHO we are, and allow this connection to come through us, magnificent results will happen. Daily, as I meet doctors from different places , schools, genders, and religions, I see one constant that has remained true throughout the years. The doctors who express themselves from the inside, who work and watching GOD IN THEIR WORK ...& WORK to quiet their mind and develop their heart, who work to stop trying to control their environment and allow events to unfold, always show more success than those who work from the opposite.
The key the medical practic is to free up the nervous system, so the body can express itself more clearly from a non-compromised position. We add nothing to the body, nor take anything from it. Our practice should trust that the inherent recuperative, restorative power within the body will take care of everything as long as there is no interference.
What would this look like outside the body . . . and to your life? Do you spend enought time in prayer, meditation, visualization, and quietness? Do you seek to listen to the magnificent power within, and act upon what it tells you? Do you really trust that your spirit is greater than your EGO? It has been said that your ego really needs your being, but your being doesn't need your ego! To live from your being, and to bring that forth within your practice, is the greatest service you can provide your patients. Healing comes from the connection you bring to the process. The more connected you are to your source, the more people will be drawn to you, and what you have to offer them. How many professions do you know where success depends on how well the doctor takes care of him/herself from the inside as opposed to taking care of everything on the outside? The better I am as a person and a being, the more successful my practice will be! I for one feel blessed to be a a doctor especially an internist , and knowing my responsibility to myself is the key to my success. Take care of the cause, and all else will follow!
N.B. ONCE I meet an old Syrian lady physician in the clinic , she told me in our country we used to call the DOCTOR by AL7AKIM…AND there a reason why we do so
Bye for now
And don’t forget to be a Hakim
Good luck in ur practice
